Jorge Díaz de Villegas

Jorge Díaz de Villegas is a bicultural strategic communications counselor specializing in consumer marketing and brand-positioning communications. He has experience in the general U.S., Hispanic, and Latin American markets. Throughout his career he has managed marketing and communications programs involving public relations, advertising, and direct marketing as both an agency professional and corporate executive.

At Fleishman-Hillard’s Miami office, Mr. Díaz de Villegas oversees all client services and is also responsible for the consumer marketing and U.S. Hispanic practices. His current clients include Procter & Gamble, UPS, Neoris, and Funny Bagels.

Before joining Fleishman-Hillard, Mr. Díaz de Villegas was vice president of marketing and communications at MTV Latin America. In that capacity, he led the team that carried out all consumer and trade marketing and corporate communications efforts for the television network in Spanish-speaking Latin America.

He was also director of circulation marketing for the Miami Herald Publishing Company and was a member of the company’s strategic-planning task force. There he played a leading role in the launch of El Nuevo Herald, the country’s largest Spanish-language newspaper, as a stand-alone product independent of the Miami Herald. He gained further experience in publishing at Time Magazine, where he held several positions in consumer marketing for the U.S. and Canadian markets before becoming assistant consumer marketing director.

Mr. Díaz de Villegas is a veteran of Young & Rubicam, Inc., where he began his career as an account executive at Burson Marsteller, San Juan. He moved on to become an account supervisor with Young and Rubicam Advertising in Puerto Rico and later regional account director for the company’s direct-marketing unit, Wunderman Cato Johnson in Miami. His agency experience spans a variety of product categories with an emphasis on consumer products and food and beverage accounts. His former clients include American Home Products, Nestle, Heineken, Dewar’s, Casera Foods, Kenner Toys, Equal, AT&T, Ericsson, Sony, Microsoft, and Alamo Rent-a-Car.

Mr. Díaz de Villegas holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. He is fluent in English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of French and Portuguese.
